Chronicling Mental Health UK: Princess

Depression and mental health issues play a hugh part in turning a lot of people homeless in the UK, as we see in the distressing sight of a mentally disturbed female lying on the ground disorientated and dangerously close to moving traffic somewhere in north London

We put a call through to the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, to alert them about the unknown lady, who we will address as “Princess”. The hospital advised we call the Police to pick Princess up and get her into their facility. After speaking with the Police, we got a reference number and decided to hang around, to keep an eye on the vulnerable lady

Homelessness, depression and mental health issues often go hand in hand.

Unfortunately before the arrival of the Police, Princess had regained consciousness, slowly picked herself up and walked away with a gait that suggested the possibility of a mental condition

She seem to “live” local as we had spotted her a few days earlier.

We will be following the story of Princess until, hopefully, she is taken into care

Update on “Princess”-11/3/22:

We spotted Princess again around same vicinity, out in the cold alone in the wet London weather. Fortunately this time around we succeeded in getting the Police come round on time, even though she had paced well away

The authorities confirmed they are aware of her, and did assure us they were keeping an eye on her as she posed no threat to anyone.

Given her constant exposure to dangerously moving traffic, we will be looking to find out how serious her mental situation is with regards to capacity, and if for her sake, it would be much better to restrict her freedom of movement, for now, by getting her into a mental health care facility for “treatment”, before the worst happens

More updates coming soon.
