We are pleased to announce that one of UK’s leading charities for single homeless people, CRISIS, is a recipient of OKON tracksuits for UK’s homeless, from The African Angel.
The history of CRISIS started after Bill Shearman, the founder of CRISIS, watched a moving documentary in 1966 by the BBC showing the plight of disadvantaged homeless families in the UK.
Disturbed by what he saw, Shearman, an aspiring politician and humanitarian, would go on the quest to finding a solution in 1967, by grounding CRISIS, a homeless charity for single homeless people.
To make CRISIS a reality in a time period where the vast majority of the UK population were largely unaware of the plight of the homeless around them, Shearman, with a burning desire to make a change, succeeded in getting the support of a network of selfless homelessness activists in east London including fellow politician, Conservative Shadow Chancellor Iain Macleod MP who canvassed for cross-party support
The African Angel is inspired by Bill Shearman,s selfless devotion to humanity and his admirable effort in bringing forth a needed change that has made the world a much better place for us all
